Membership Information

You have selected the Member Application membership level.

To become a PTA Member you have to pass our entrance test successfully. To apply you have to have finished your training at least 2 years previously or been in the trade for not less than 5 years. By becoming a Member of the PTA you have full access to all of the benefits of the PTA. By being a PTA Member you are demonstrating that you are a fully qualified trustworthy professional who has been independently tested to a professional standard. As a result of this you can use the nationally recognised PTA logo in your advertising and the letters MPTA after your name.

PTA Entrance Test

This test should not be feared or seen as a barrier. It is simply a test of tuning, repair and regulation, and a series of questions about your knowledge of the piano. It involves all of those things you might come across on a typical call, for example replacing a broken spring, or a question a customer might ask. Help and advice including pre-test courses are available to help you familiarise yourself with the test and to pass successfully. All results are confidential and are never disclosed to others. By applying for the PTA test you automatically become an Associate until your test date.
